BPI Skills Development; LS01- Fundamentals of Lean Systems Thinking Overview Workshop (Vanguard)
Lean Systems Thinking is a way of designing and managing work by managing the organization as a process rather than a top down hierarchy.
This FREE 1 day overview workshop, delivered by Vanguard is designed to be as interactive and practical as possible in the time available. An expert practitioner, experienced in the application of Lean Systems Thinking in a Local Authority environment, will deliver the workshop which will introduce delegates to some of the key concepts on Lean Systems Thinking and encourage delegates to think about their own approach and experience.
What is it?
Lean systems thinking is a new way of designing and managing work by managing the organisation as a process rather than a top-down hierarchy.
It gives you more control, lower costs and better service by putting the customer first and in line with customer demand.
The results are higher customer and stakeholder satisfaction, less waste, more capacity, lower costs and more scope for growth.
Who should attend?
Anyone involved with or thinking about doing, leading or sponsoring process improvements or service re-design around customer needs, improving efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility.
What are the learning outcomes
As a result of attending this workshop delegates will understand:
- This approach to transformation is a "thinking change" and not a set of tools.
- It is vital to start with "Check" - the process for gaining knowledge and understanding before making any changes.
- The application of "Check" to various public sector systems and what it uncovers.
- The challenge for service organisational transformation is to design to absorb the variety of demand entering it and thus deliver better service at lower cost.
- The criticality of relating measures to the purpose of the system and how measures are central to performance improvement.
- The role of management changes in a Systems Thinking organisation to one that "acts on the system"
