BPI Skills Development - LS01- Fundamentals of Lean Systems Thinking; Overview Workshop (Grant Thornton)
Venue:
Marriott Hotel, Huntingdon
Start Date:
02/12/2009 09:00:00
End Date:
02/12/2009 16:00:00
Lean Systems Thinking
is a way of designing and managing work by managing the organisation as a process rather than a top down hierarchy.
This
FREE
one day overview workshop, delivered by Grant Thornton is designed to be as interactive and practical as possible in the time available. An expert practitioner, experienced in the application of Lean Systems Thinking in a Local Authority environment, will deliver the workshop which will introduce delegates to some of the key concepts on Lean Systems Thinking and encourage delegates to think about their own approach and experience.
What is it?
Lean systems thinking is a new way of designing and managing work by managing the organisation as a process rather than a top-down hierarchy. It gives you more control, lower costs and better service by putting the customer first and in line with customer demand. The results are higher customer and stakeholder satisfaction, less waste, more capacity, lower costs and more scope for growth.
Who should attend?
Anyone involved with or thinking about doing, leading or sponsoring process improvements or service re-design around customer needs, improving efficiency, effectiveness and accessibility.
What are the learning outcomes?
This one-day Workshop provides a high-level understanding of what Lean and Systems Thinking is about and how it fits into the Transformation picture. Specifically, the workshop facilitator will:
> Unpack the management-speak and focus on the underlying common-sense principles
> Break down the application of Lean and Systems Thinking into a series of method steps.
> Show examples of its use and the benefits resulting
> Show you how to apply Lean and Systems Thinking to business problems
> Take you through each method step, some associated techniques, critical success factors and
tips for success.
> Give you the chance to get the feel for some of the techniques via mini exercises and scenarios
> Shed light on why it hasn't always worked
> Host some discussion and debate about how your and co-attendees' organisations are
positioned to potentially benefit from > a Lean and Systems Thinking Approach
> Spend some time on developing key techniques in a workshop exercise environment
Pre-Workshop preparation/materials for attendees
The Workshop requires no pre-reading, but attendees should consider and gather the information that is to hand about performance, resources and costs in a real-life area of current activity, where there are known performance challenges and issues.
